Medication abortion is at risk

March 4, 2023

Any day now, a lawsuit in Texas can take away abortion for millions of Americans by cutting off access to mifepristone, a drug that is used in more than half of abortions in the U.S.

This lawsuit could result in the FDA taking mifepristone entirely off the market – even here in Minnesota.

Now more than ever, we need to keep advancing the Reproductive Freedom Codification Act (RFCA) repealing Minnesota’s abortion restrictions and the Reproductive Freedom Defense Act protecting patients and providers. When these bills are voted on by the full legislature – we will need all hands on deck to show the force of our movement’s support for this legislation!

Open Letter for the RFCA

On February 22, over 40 organizations sent a letter written by UnRestrict Minnesota to the Minnesota House of Representatives and Minnesota Senate in support of the Reproductive Freedom Codification Act (HF91/SF70).

We stand united in our belief that the Reproductive Freedom Codification Act is necessary to clear away outdated, unjust, harmful, and often unconstitutional anti-abortion laws.

Join our organizational partners in supporting the Reproductive Freedom Codification Act!

Celebrating Abortion Providers on March 10

The people who work and volunteer at abortion clinics are true heroes. Despite facing harassment from anti-abortion protesters, legal barriers that complicate their essential work, and stigma from a culture that does not always value the work they do, abortion providers persist.

You can help us celebrate Minnesota’s abortion providers by telling them you how much you appreciate all they do to ensure that abortion care is available in our communities. Our team will gather the messages and share them with Minnesota providers for Abortion Provider Appreciation Day on March 10.

Positive Pregnancies Support Act in the News

The Positive Pregnancies Support Act would stop fraudulent CPCs from receiving state funds, and ensure that money goes to evidence-based care and support services. The bill, sponsored by Reproductive Freedom Caucus member Representative Liz Olson, would ensure that our state isn’t propping up places that do harm.

This important legislation was recently covered in ProPublica and featured interviews with Gender Justice’s Megan Peterson in addition to other experts who have studied anti-abortion “crisis pregnancy centers.”

Thank you for being part of UnRestrict Minnesota!
