Polling Confirms:

Protecting Abortion Is a Minnesota Value

The survey of 1,000 Minnesota voters was conducted by polling firm PerryUndem in mid-December 2022. Here are some key takeaways from the poll.

The poll found:

  • 89% of Minnesotans want to know what their legislators are doing on the topic of abortion, and want them to take action.
  • 65% of Minnesotans want Minnesota laws to support people’s rights and access to abortion.
  • 68% support repealing laws that restrict access to abortion.
  • 75% support protecting providers from lawsuits from other states, while 74% support protecting people traveling to Minnesota for abortion care.

The poll also found:

  • 75% of voters want people to make their own decisions on abortion without the government interfering.
  • 77% said they don’t struggle with their feelings on abortion.
  • 70% of voters want people in all communities to have access to safe, legal, and affordable abortion care.

Minnesota voters have made clear that abortion rights and reproductive freedom are Minnesota values. They voted those values in the 2022 midterm elections, and now the lawmakers they elected have a clear mandate: pass comprehensive, bold protections for abortion to ensure that everyone in Minnesota who needs abortion care can get it, and that our state can be a leader on reproductive freedom in America post-Roe v. Wade.
