Updates on medication abortion and more
October 26, 2023
Halloween is right around the corner 👻.
What’s spookier than ghosts is that our bodily autonomy is under constant attack. Stay up to date with UnRestrict Minnesota on the important issues around medication abortion and pregnancy rights, and how you can get involved!
Federal Threat to Medication Abortion
The Star Tribune editorial board warns how the state abortion protections Minnesotans fought so hard to secure could be undone at the federal level.
Senator Tina Smith emphasizes, “If you are sitting in Minnesota, an island of reproductive health freedom, this legislation would take that freedom away. It is important to pay attention to this. It shows what these extreme Republicans would do if they have the power.”
Fight for Access
Just the Pill’s medical director, Dr. Julie Amaon, one of UnRestrict Minnesota’s coalition partners, was recently quoted in this Minnesota Reformer article. Amaon said demand from patients exploded by 400% after Roe v. Wade was reversed, and they’ve seen more than 6,000 patients who have traveled from more than 34 different states.
Just the Pill offers telehealth consultation and medication abortion by mail in the United States. Learn more about their work here!
SPIRAL Abortion Doula Training
UnRestrict Minnesota coalition partner SPIRAL Collective (SPIRAL stands for Supporting People in Reproduction, Abortion, and Loss) has trained over 500 abortion doulas in Minnesota, and they have an upcoming training this weekend.
Abortion doulas provide nonjudgmental emotional, informational, and physical support to people receiving abortions for unintended, wanted, or miscarried pregnancies. Learn more and sign up for this training today!
