Red River Women’s Clinic Joins UnRestrict Minnesota Coalition

Saint Paul, Minn.—UnRestrict Minnesota is proud to announce the newest member of our coalition, Red River Women’s Clinic. Based in Moorhead, MN after being forced to relocate from Fargo, ND, earlier this year, Red River Women’s Clinic joins over 30 other member organizations in UnRestrict Minnesota’s cross-sector, multi-racial, statewide reproductive justice coalition.

“We are thrilled to welcome Red River Women’s Clinic into UnRestrict Minnesota,” said UnRestrict Minnesota Campaign Director Abena Abraham. “As our newest member, Red River Women’s Clinic will help us build on the significant gains our coalition has made in eliminating Minnesota’s abortion restrictions and promote our policy roadmap, Minnesota Beyond Roe: The Leadership Agenda for Abortion Access. The clinic will join our other members in harnessing the power of our coalition to demand that Minnesota go beyond simply codifying Roe to position itself as a true leader on abortion rights in our new post-Roe reality.”

Established in 1998, Red River Women’s Clinic was the only abortion provider in North Dakota for over 20 years. In August 2022, after the Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade was handed down and with North Dakota’s abortion ban looming, the clinic relocated across the river to Moorhead, MN. The clinic provides both in-clinic and medication abortion options for patients from North and South Dakota and northwestern Minnesota, as well as a range of birth control options.

“As an abortion provider forced to relocate from our home state with an abortion trigger ban about to go into effect, Red River Women’s Clinic understands firsthand how fragile our right to an abortion is. And even if abortion remains a right under the law, without access and affordability, it is meaningless,” said Tammi Kromenaker, Director of Red River Women’s Clinic. “Our patients and all those seeking abortion in Minnesota deserve so much more, which is why we are excited to join UnRestrict Minnesota and work to pass an agenda that protects and expands access to critical abortion care and reproductive health services.”
