treatments are under threat
I am the mother of two girls and have lived my life under Roe. I am heartbroken and enraged that they will not. I very much needed reproductive healthcare to ever become a mother and now those treatments are under threat. It is a complicated history for me. No one woman’s reproductive health needs can be defined under a blanket of restrictive laws. Our lives and those of our daughters depend on reproductive healthcare freedom and our ability to make our own choices!

personal health decisions
No one should stand between a doctor and a patient in making personal health decisions. If we can’t control our bodies, we are not truly free as individuals. I wouldn’t be here today if my mother wouldn’t have had safe access to abortion in the 1970’s, when her abusive boyfriend impregnated her in high school. If she had been forced to give birth, she definitely wouldn’t have found and married my father, who is the love of her life.

time to act
Yesterday’s action to reverse Roe V. Wade is the largest step backwards in the rights of women in my life, possibly in the history of our country. I’m not an activist but as a middle class, white man people need to see more people like me calling out this injustice. I’m angry and it’s time to act.

crave abortion protection
As a sex-positive person, I crave abortion protection so that we – as women – can live our fullest and most satisfied lives. Without legal and safe access to abortion and reproductive autonomy, I fear strongly for the safety and independence of women. I believe women should be able to be as sexual active as they desire and if an unwanted pregnancy occurs, it is up to each individual woman to make her choice on how she will move forward. Termination of pregnancy is not gross or taboo, it simply saves lives.

safe within their anatomy
As a woman who was raised on the stigma that her body should be a source of shame, I long submitted to the control the church and other societal factors had on me. I let them have control, and I will never go back. Now that I have grown, I will fight so that every person with a uterus has reproductive freedom and feels safe within their anatomy.
