Petition for Reproductive Freedom

Dear Governor Walz and Members of the Minnesota Legislature,

Deciding whether or when to become a parent is about freedom and control over our lives at our most basic level: our bodies, our families, our life’s path. The Minnesota Constitution protects our right to have an abortion and the decision to have one.

Despite this, anti-abortion lawmakers in our state have been quietly passing laws that restrict abortion access, intimidate providers and patients, and shame patients. These barriers disproportionately harm Minnesota’s Black, indigenous, immigrant, low-income, and rural populations.

When a person has decided to have an abortion, it should be safe, legal, affordable, available in their community, and free from punishment or judgement. We ask you to remove laws that unconstitutionally restrict access to abortion in Minnesota, including the law that requires doctors to provide medically irrelevant and inaccurate information to patients.
